What is OC3 Internet? In telecommunications, OC3 is the abbreviation of Optical Carrier Level 3. The number specifies the speed of the fiber optic network. OC3 speed is measured by Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) standards. OC3 Internet service is an optical connection based on a carrier fiber optic backbone and transmits large volumes traffic. The primary function of an OC3 connection is to take, synchronize and transport voice, data and video at a speed of 155 Megabits per second (Mbps).
